Established in 1998, Courage Reins was born out of a growing need for impactful therapy solutions for those with special needs. From its inception, our purpose has been deeply rooted in charity as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our commitment knows no boundaries – we endeavor to provide accessible alternative therapy to all, irrespective of financial constraints. Our reliance on donations is the cornerstone of our ability to offer sponsored sessions and services at an affordable cost. Countless success stories stand testament to our unwavering dedication, yet our quest for additional funding remains constant. With each contribution, we propel Utah’s children, individuals, and families toward brighter futures.
In 2001, a benevolent donor secured the very land upon which Courage Reins stands today, endowing us with a permanent abode. This gesture of unwavering support paved the way for expanded and elevated therapy sessions. Such generosity continued to flourish in 2017, as we were bestowed a state-of-the-art indoor arena, entirely funded by donor generosity. This colossal endeavor propelled Courage Reins into the echelons of Utah’s premier private equestrian centers, solidifying our place as pioneers in equine therapy. The impact of our donors reverberates through every success story we create.
Nestled at the feet of the picturesque Wasatch Mountains, Courage Reins finds its sanctuary, a stone’s throw away from the bustling cities of Salt Lake and Provo. Our sprawling 11-acre haven, graced with fenced, irrigated pastures and two indoor arenas, is a haven for our cherished equine companions. Purpose-built offices, reception areas, and heated indoor arenas ensure our programs thrive year-round, regardless of the season.
Two decades of unwavering commitment have seen Courage Reins burgeon into a thriving ecosystem. Our family boasts 14 dedicated staff members, over 100 active volunteers, and a treasured herd of 20 donated horses. Weekly, we embrace over 100 participants hailing from every corner of the state, drawn to our center of healing, happiness, and empowerment. Our suite of programs has expanded to encompass a spectrum of equine-assisted therapies – Therapeutic Riding, Mental and Behavioral Health, Occupational Therapy, Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, and Natural Horsemanship. As stewards of Courage Reins, both our Board of Trustees and staff stand resolute in our pledge to furnish years ahead with programs that are exemplary, effective, and exhilarating.
