Zion HealthShare is a non-profit medical cost-sharing community. A community of like-minded individuals that voluntarily share eligible medical expenses.
At Zion HealthShare we help facilitate this sharing by providing a membership-based community where each member contributes only a fraction of what standard insurance would cost. These monthly contributions are non-profit contributions meaning as a company we only take 7-10% off the top for administrative fees, the remaining 90-93% goes into a community fund that is then used to help share into eligible medical expenses. Instead of Zion HealthShare paying the sharing request, it is the community that is sharing each other's medical needs. Members will be able to pick between 3 IUA's (Initial Unsharable Amounts) of $1,000 $2,500 or $5,000. This IUA is simply the member's responsibility and the amount that eligible medical expenses must exceed before the community will be able to start sharing. Eligible medical expenses include surgeries, hospitalizations, ER visits, and other services.
What you are hearing is if you are signed up for the $1,000 IUA and you have a medical event that exceeds that amount, you will be responsible for the first $1,000 then the community can share the rest.
Sounds too good to be true? Well, it's not! It is an effective and efficient alternative to traditional health insurance for a fraction of the cost. At Zion HealthShare, we have memberships for everyone ranging from individuals and families to Employers that want this as a part of their benefits package.
